Given in memory of Alun Trevor Worthington (1897–1961) of Pantybeudy Hall, Llangeitho. He was a doctor and the son of the former rector, Revd David Worthington.Luke appears to hold the caduceus (an attribute of Mercury) rather than the rod of Asclepius, which is often used as a symbol of healing and healthcare. The caduceus has two confronted snakes, as is seen here, and the rod of Asclepius has only one. However the snakes are not winged, as those on the caduceus usually are!
