about 1918

Single-light window with a standing military figure holding a lance.

firm/studio: probably Burlison & Grylls

Church of St Ceitho, Llangeitho, Ceredigion
north wall of the nave (window number: nII)

The window is given in memory of B.E.S. Davies, a captain in the eleventh South Wales Borderers, who was killed in action at Pilkem Ridge, 31 July 1917, aged 24.

The face looks like a portrait of the man.

The window is titled 'The Good Centurion' and above is the text from Paul's second letter to Timothy: 'I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course' (2 Timothy 4:7).
